Storm surges: Tides get higher as storms rage stronger.

Groynes: Groynes are erected perpendicular to the shore. Groynes trap sand and keep beaches intact. Misconceived groins lead to erosion further from the coast.
Revetments: These are sloping constructions that absorb the energy of waves. They are composed of stone or concrete, which eliminates the idea of erosion.
Beach Nourishment: This is a process in which one nourishes the beaches. This process restores them back to their original shape and shields them from waves.
Living Shorelines: These utilize aspects of nature like mangroves and marshes. They allow wildlife and provide sustainable protection.
Innovative Approaches to Coastal Protection
Hybrid Solutions: These combine man-made with natural ones. For example, a mangrove forest and a seawall reduces wave force impacts on marine life.
Floating Barriers: Floating barriers emerge during the high tide. It is the most flexible form of flood control measures.

Smart Seawalls: Smart seawalls incorporate sensors to measure waves and erosion. The actual time data of the structures provide real-time management.
Challenges Facing Implementation of Coastal Protection Structures

High Costs: Hard structures cost much to erect and maintain.
Environmental Damage: The artificial structures do damage to natural habitats.
Long Term Sustainability: Sea level rise might outstrip current interventions.
